Ebenezer Akinsanmiro’s transfer situation has taken an unexpected turn, with interest in the Nigerian midfielder growing rapidly after a failed move away from Inter Milan, Footynaija.com reports.
The Super Eagles midfielder enjoyed a productive loan spell with Pisa during the 2025-26 Serie A season, making 24 league appearances and establishing himself as a regular in midfield. Pisa had hoped to keep him permanently and were prepared to trigger a €7.5 million purchase clause after his impressive campaign.
However, the deal for the 21-year-old broke down before completion. Reports in Italy claim administrative issues and disagreements during the final stages of negotiations prevented the transfer from being finalised, forcing Akinsanmiro back to Inter.
The collapse of the Pisa agreement has opened the door for new suitors across Europe. German clubs Werder Bremen and Borussia Monchengladbach have emerged as leading contenders for his signature, with both sides reportedly assessing a summer approach for the Nigeria international.
Interest is not limited to the Bundesliga. Bologna are also tracking developments, while scouts from several Premier League clubs are believed to be monitoring the midfielder’s progress ahead of the new season.
Inter’s stance has also changed. Having previously been willing to sanction a €7.5 million sale, the Serie A giants are now understood to value Akinsanmiro closer to €10 million following his encouraging performances in Italy.
With demand increasing and multiple clubs circling, a move away from Milan appears increasingly likely before the transfer window closes.
