Ryan Alebiosu has described his first experience with the Super Eagles as a dream come true after making his Nigeria debut at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Footynaija reports.
The Blackburn Rovers defender said he was overwhelmed with emotion when he received the call to join the national team, admitting that he never expected it to happen so quickly. His invitation came after a strong first season at Blackburn, where he impressed with his performances following his move from Belgian club KV Kortrijk.
The 24-year-old made his first appearance for Nigeria in a 3-1 win over Uganda during the team’s final group match at the tournament, a moment he says he will never forget.
Speaking to Rovers TV, Alebiosu explained that representing Nigeria was beyond anything he had imagined at the beginning of last season.
“It was special for me. If someone had told me at the start of the season that I would play for Nigeria, I wouldn’t have believed it. Getting that call in December was emotional. Even now, I still don’t have the words to describe it,” he said.
With his breakthrough season behind him, Alebiosu is already focused on improving. He hopes to learn from Blackburn’s new manager and coaching staff as he prepares for the 2026/27 Championship campaign. The defender also wants to contribute more goals and assists while continuing to grow into an even more important player for both club and country.
