Abraham Marcus has found himself at the centre of a growing transfer battle, with Serie A side Lecce now pushing for the Super Eagles winger after Brazilian giants Vasco da Gama had shown strong interest in his services, Footynaija.com reports.
The new development comes at a time when Marcus has become one of the players Estrela da Amadora do not want to lose. The Portuguese club are resisting the growing interest because they see the Nigerian as one of the main assets of their sporting project.
Marcus joined Estrela in the summer of 2025 after spending several years within the FC Porto system. He had previously shown his goalscoring ability with Feirense and Porto B before making the move to Estrela, where he continued his career in Portugal’s top flight.
The Nigerian has also already tasted international football. He made his Super Eagles debut in 2021 and has two senior caps to his name.
Lecce enter the race for Marcus

According to recent reports, Lecce have now positioned themselves to sign Marcus after Vasco da Gama’s interest. It is understood that while the Italian club are interested in the winger, while Estrela’s SAD continues to resist a sale because of its preference to strengthen the team rather than lose its main players.
There is, however, a price that could change the situation. Marcus could leave Estrela for a fee of around €4 million, with the club unwilling to make it easy for interested sides to take him.
That figure is not new for Marcus. Estrela rejected a reported €2.5 million offer from Athletico Paranaense in January, while Brazilian interest has continued to grow.
FC Porto still own 40 per cent of Marcus’ economic rights, meaning the Portuguese giants would have a financial interest in any transfer. Marcus is under contract with Estrela until June 2028, so the club are not under immediate pressure to sell.
But with Vasco da Gama already interested and Lecce now entering the picture, the pressure around his future is growing.
