Victor Osimhen has been described as so important to Galatasaray that losing him could cost the club the Turkish title, Footynaija reports.
Libero TV commentator Ahmet Çakar made the claim after Galatasaray’s 4-0 win at Erzurumspor on Friday. He praised Osimhen and called him the best foreign striker to have played in Türkiye.
Çakar said Galatasaray have the strongest starting XI in Türkiye. He also compared their attack with the forwards at rival clubs.
“The opposing teams have players like Salah, Vlahovic, Lukaku, right? Even if they all play very well, they can’t be better than Galatasaray’s attacking line,” Çakar said as per GSGazette.
He pointed to Galatasaray’s ability to create chances and attack on the counter. He added that several goals in the Erzurumspor game came after mistakes by the opposition.
Çakar’s main concern was the lack of depth behind Osimhen.
“Galatasaray’s only problem in terms of football is the lack of alternatives,” he said. “Batrakov has arrived. Will he play well? We’ll see. It seems that other players will also come. Osimhen still has no backup.”
The Turkish pundit then delivered his strongest verdict on the Nigeria striker.
“Osimhen is the best foreign striker to have come to Türkiye,” Çakar said. “He wants to prove himself not only in terms of football but also mentally. He’s hungry, as if he’s playing football for the first time and is striving to show himself.”
Çakar also said Osimhen could transform Galatasaray’s title rivals.
“Put Osimhen in Beşiktaş or Fenerbahçe, and that team will be champions,” he said. “If he leaves, the championship will be gone too. He is at least 40% of the team.”
Galatasaray’s 4-0 win moved them to four points from two Süper Lig games, while Fenerbahçe had three points from two matches.
