Zadok Yohanna: Brighton close in on Nigerian wonderkid in record €22m deal

Brighton & Hove Albion are closing in on a deal for Nigerian teenager Zadok Yohanna, with the Premier League side prepared to pay a fee that could rewrite Swedish transfer history, Footynaija reports.

The 18-year-old winger has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in Scandinavia after a brilliant start to the season with AIK. His performances have attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, but Brighton are now considered favourites for his signature, according to Sky Sports UK.

AIK recently confirmed that discussions are underway regarding the sale of one of their players, without naming the club involved. Reports in England indicate that Brighton are the team leading negotiations and are willing to meet the Swedish club’s valuation, believed to be around €22 million.

If the transfer is completed, Yohanna would become the most expensive player ever sold by a Swedish club, surpassing the fee paid by Lucas Bergvall when he left Djurgårdens IF for Tottenham Hotspur. It would also shatter AIK’s long-standing club record, previously set when Alexander Isak joined Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

🚨 RB Leipzig no longer in the race for Zadok Yohanna as Brighton is preparing a bid of €20M+ for the young talent RB Leipzig waned to replace Diomande with.

Yohanna was originally named in Nigeria’s squad for the recent Unity Cup in London but remained in Sweden after AIK decided not to release him while he continued his recovery from injury.

Despite that setback, his stock has continued to rise following a campaign in which he contributed five goals and assists in his opening seven league appearances.
