KRC Genk head coach Jess Thorup has confirmed that Super Eagles winger Yira Sor is set to leave the Belgian club this summer amid strong interest from Turkish Süper Lig newcomers Amedspor, Footynaija.com reports.
Sor has been heavily linked with a permanent move to the newly promoted Turkish outfit and is reportedly already in Turkey to complete his medical and contract formalities.
The 26-year-old has now been absent from Genk’s training camp for the past two days, with Thorup admitting that the Nigerian will not be part of his plans for the new season.

“I don’t know if everything has been signed yet, but I can be honest enough to say that Yira hasn’t been at the club for the past two days. He won’t be with us this season,” Thorup told HLN.
Sor joined Genk from Czech side Slavia Prague for €6.5 million in January 2023 but struggled to establish himself as a regular during his time in Belgium.
A move to Amedspor would give Sor an opportunity to revive his career in Turkey, where he is also set to reunite with fellow Nigerian international Gift Orban.
Orban recently joined the Turkish club on loan from Hoffenheim, giving Amedspor another Super Eagles forward as they prepare for their first campaign in the Turkish top flight.
Sor earned his first Nigeria cap in March this year after forcing his way into Eric Chelle’s plans, having built a reputation as one of the fastest wingers in Belgian football.
Now on course for a fresh start in Turkey, the former Slavia Prague attacker will be hoping to put his injury troubles behind him and finally fulfil the potential that prompted Genk to invest heavily in his signature three years ago.
