Anthony Dennis may soon take a major step forward in his career after Trabzonspor entered negotiations to sign the highly-rated Nigerian midfielder from Göztepe, Footynaija reports.
The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the most consistent young midfielders in Turkey since arriving from Nigeria. After joining Göztepe’s youth ranks from HB Academy, Dennis steadily worked his way into the first team and played a key role in the club’s rise back to the Süper Lig.
His development accelerated under coach Stanimir Stoilov, who handed him greater responsibility in midfield. Dennis rewarded that trust with a series of mature performances, establishing himself as a regular starter and one of Göztepe’s most dependable players.
During the 2025/26 campaign, the Kaduna-born midfielder featured in 31 league matches, scored three goals and logged 2,472 minutes. His displays drew attention from clubs across Europe, including Germany’s RB Leipzig, Union Berlin and Mainz, while Villarreal, Anderlecht and Beşiktaş were also credited with interest.
Despite the widespread attention, Trabzonspor are the first club to make a concrete move. Reports in Turkey suggest Göztepe’s owners, Sport Republic, have placed a €7 million valuation on the midfielder as talks continue.
A switch to Trabzonspor could also improve Dennis’ chances of earning greater recognition with Nigeria. The Black Sea club regularly competes for European places and attracts more national-team attention than most Turkish sides. With the Super Eagles searching for reliable midfield options ahead of future international assignments, a successful move to one of Turkey’s biggest clubs could put Dennis firmly on the radar of Nigeria’s coaching staff.
