Terem Moffi walked off the pitch at the PGE Narodowy Stadium on Wednesday night as the man who had put Nigeria ahead, and despite the late equaliser that denied the Super Eagles a famous win, the Ligue 1 striker had nothing but pride in what Chelle’s side produced, Footynaija.com reports.

Moffi opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, tapping home a pass from Moses Simon inside the six-yard box to give Nigeria the lead against a Poland side preparing for the 2026 World Cup.

Nigeria were without Osimhen, Lookman, Iwobi and Aina for the trip to Warsaw, yet they more than matched their hosts across 90 minutes. Paul Onuachu’s second-half penalty had put them on the verge of victory before Przemysław Wiśniewski’s stunning late strike forced a share of the spoils in stoppage time.

Moffi, speaking after the final whistle, per a report by Sports247, was measured but clearly energised by what the performance showed.

“I am proud and happy for myself and the team as well. We played really well but, unfortunately, we couldn’t secure the victory. Yet there were a lot of positives to take home. I think it was a top performance from the boys,” he said.

He also acknowledged the tactical discipline Chelle demanded against a side of Poland’s quality.

“It was a difficult game because they are a top side. We had to stay low, to absorb the pressure and try a lot of counters or possessions. A lot of positives to take home and we’re proud of ourselves,” Moffi added.

With Portugal next on the agenda on June 10, the Nice striker is already focused on what comes next.

“Against Portugal, it is going to be difficult, but I will try to do my job as well,” he said.

That fixture is Portugal’s final warm-up before the World Cup, making it a significant test for a Nigeria side that continues to rebuild under Chelle.
