Former France international player Emmanuel Petit believes Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen can provide a definitive solution to Chelsea’s long-standing striker woes, Footynaija.com reports.
For years, Chelsea have searched in vain for a striker capable of filling the void left by Diego Costa in 2017.
Big-money signings have come and gone, from Alvaro Morata to Romelu Lukaku, but none have consistently delivered, fuelling talk of a lingering No.9 “curse” at Stamford Bridge.
Now, former Chelsea midfielder Petit believes Osimhen could be the man to finally change that narrative.
The Nigerian striker has built a reputation as one of Europe’s most relentless forwards, spearheading Napoli’s title-winning campaign before taking his talents to Galatasaray, a move that surprised many, including Petit.
Speaking on Andy’s Bet Club, the Frenchman outlined why he believes Osimhen remains tailor-made for the Premier League, and uniquely equipped to succeed where others have failed.

“Victor Osimhen is doing well with Galatasaray but when he left Napoli, I was hoping that he was going to come to the Premier League, I have no idea why he chose Galatasaray,” Petit said, as revealed by Complete Sport.
“Since Drogba, I think there’s been a curse around the number nine at Chelsea. I think it’s different with Osimhen because this guy has a really big personality and character, he could be the man to break that curse.
“The way he plays on the pitch is a pain for defenders. This guy is very aggressive. He has something to prove. After he left France for Napoli, he did great in Italy. But then he was fighting with the president of Napoli, and then he went to Galatasaray.
“I think Osimhen has many seasons to play at the highest level. So I think that could be something very, very good for the Premier League. I think he has the character, the personality, and the background to play in the Premier League.”

At the moment, Osimhen looks set to remain at Galatasaray beyond this summer despite plenty of interest from across Europe. If he becomes available on the market in the future, Chelsea will definitely be a likely destination.
