Nigeria have unveiled their 21-man Flying Eagles squad for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, a mix of exciting domestic performers and rising European-based talents, Footynaija.com reports.
Head coach Aliyu Zubairu has leaned on proven names, bringing back Molde FK midfielder Daniel Daga, who impressed at the last tournament in Argentina. Daga joins captain Daniel Bameyi, recently signed by Slovenian side Primorje Ajdovščina from Bayelsa United, as the team’s spine.
Manchester City youngster Abdullahi Shitu Ele is another headline inclusion, alongside Stade de Reims defender Ocheche Amos Onyejefu. Croatia-based duo Charles Agaba and Israel Ayuma, plus Lillestrom striker Kparobo Arierhi will look to add attacking bite to the Flying Eagles.
From the NPFL, Remo Stars’ defender Ahmed Akinyele and Sporting Lagos full-back Odinaka Okoro get their chance after standout seasons, while Akwa United’s Sani Suleiman and Ikorodu City’s Freedom Marvellous will hope to carry their domestic form onto the global stage. Goalkeeper Ifeanyi Harcourt, Bayelsa United’s Clinton Ezekiel, and striker Charles Agada round out the call-ups.
Nigeria face a tricky Group F campaign, opening against Norway on 29 September before clashes with Saudi Arabia (2 October) and Colombia (5 October), with all fixtures set for Talca’s Estadio Fiscal.
The team left Abuja on Sunday via Turkish Airlines for a 12-day training camp in Santiago. The tournament runs from 27 September to 19 October, with Nigeria looking to finally win a title after reaching the final in 1989 and 2005.
