The Super Eagles need goals, and with important games coming up against Rwanda and Zimbabwe for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, selecting the right attacking options is non-negotiable, Footynaija.com reports.

Here are five strikers Eric Chelle can turn to if the Super Eagles are serious about getting their campaign back on track.

1. Cyriel Dessers

Dessers has quietly been one of Nigeria’s most consistent goal scorers in Europe this season. With 21 goals and six assists for Rangers, the 30-year-old has been ruthless in front of goal.

His strength in hold-up play and ability to convert half-chances make him a reliable option, especially against well-organized defences.

Nigeria need a striker who can finish off chances, and Dessers has shown he can do that in high-pressure situations. With his confidence soaring in Scotland, he could be the difference in these qualifiers.

2. Victor Osimhen

The Napoli forward, currently on loan at Galatasaray, remains Nigeria’s biggest attacking weapon. He is the topscoring Nigerian in Europe, with 22 goals this season and remains a nightmare for defenders with his speed, power, and finishing.

The Super Eagles have struggled to dominate games, but with Osimhen leading the line, they have a striker that can win matches on his own.

3. Tolu Arokodare

Arokodare might not have the same profile as Osimhen or Dessers, but his numbers speak for themselves. The 24-year-old Genk striker has netted 18 times this season while also providing five assists.

Standing at 6’6”, he is a major aerial threat and could be useful against physical teams like Rwanda and Zimbabwe. If Chelle wants a different kind of forward, the ones that can bully defenders and really hold up play, Arokodare is the perfect fit.

4. Ademola Lookman

Lookman has proven himself as one of Nigeria’s most dangerous attacking players. With 17 goals and seven assists for Atalanta, he has been a key figure in their attack. His pace, dribbling, and ability to play across the frontline make him an asset.

At AFCON, he was one of Nigeria’s standout performers, scoring goals when it mattered. Chelle cannot afford to leave him out, especially in games where the Super Eagles need someone to break down stubborn defenses.

5. Anas Yusuf

Not many expected Anas Yusuf to make such an impact this season, but with 14 goals in 22 games for Nasarawa United, the 21-year-old is proving he belongs in the conversation.

While he lacks experience at the highest level, his sharp finishing and movement inside the box have caught the eye. Chelle may not start him in these qualifiers, but having a young, hungry striker in the squad could add a fresh dimension to Nigeria’s attack.

The Super Eagles have put themselves in a difficult spot in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. But the good news is, Nigeria have these strikers in top form both at home and abroad.

The Super Eagles cannot afford to drop more points, and goals will be needed to turn things around. Head coach Eric Chelle has options, but selecting the right ones will be key. With these five strikers in form, the Super Eagles have no excuse for not finding the back of the net against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
