Teenage Nigerian goal-machine Chido Obi-Martin is training with Manchester United’s first team in preparation for their weekend trip to North London where they will square up against fellow strugglers Tottenham Hotspur, Soccernet.football reports.

Obi-Martin has enjoyed mesmerizing form after dumping Arsenal and opting to further his budding career at Man United last summer. The 17-year-old striker has impressed for United’s youth teams this season, racking up an impressive tally of 15 goals across all competitions so far.

His most recent exploits for the Red Devils’ fringe side came during an FA Youth Cup game against Chelsea on Wednesday. The Danish-born starlet crowned a very brilliant performance on the day with an impressive hattrick.

Obi-Martin’s displays seem to have gained the attention of Man United head coach Ruben Amorim, with the Portuguese tactician opting to include the highly rated youngster in the Red Devils’ first team training as they prepare to face Tottenham on Sunday.

Quizzed about the inclusion of the 17-year-old in United’s preparations, Amorim revealed that the young striker could potentially serve as cover for some missing first team players when United rock up to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“I don’t want to say names,” the 40-year-old said as quoted by Manchester United’s official website.

“We have to be careful on that. We have problems this week, we called some young players to be in our training. We have some data evaluation. He is one of them.”

Obi-Martin is yet to feature in any Man United’s senior team matchday despite impressing since his arrival from Highbury. Many consider the striker too young but he will certainly be looking to make a lasting impression on Amorim and his coaching staff with this latest opportunity.
