Arsenal have turned down an approach from Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad for their winger Leandro Trossard, Soccernet.football understands.

Although the Premier League transfer window closed on August 30, international clubs, including those in Saudi Arabia, still have time to secure deals, with the Saudi Pro League window closing on September 2.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Al Ittihad submitted an offer for Trossard in hopes of luring the Belgian star away from Arsenal.

The Saudi side, which recently added Moussa Diaby from Aston Villa and boasts big names like Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante, sought to secure Trossard on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy next summer for a fee between €20-25 million.

However, TheAthletic reports that Arsenal have swiftly rejected the “informal proposal,” as the club sees Trossard as crucial for the rest of the season.

Despite recent competition in the squad — especially after Arsenal’s deadline day signing of Raheem Sterling from Chelsea — Trossard remains a key player in Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Arteta had previously acknowledged Trossard’s frustration over limited starting opportunities, saying, “We have a lot of depth in the left wing position.”

Trossard, who made significant contributions during the 2023/24 season with 46 appearances and 17 goals, is expected to play an essential role as Arsenal look to challenge for the Premier League title once again.

The Gunners, who are gearing up for the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur after the international break, are determined to keep their squad strong and competitive.
