10. Alexis Mac Allister – €42m (2023)

Mac Allister joined Liverpool from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2023 after coming to limelight at the 2022 World Cup where he made significant contributions as Argentina won the tournament. The Argentine was easily one of Liverpool’s best players in his debut season before going on to help La Albiceleste win their second consecutive Copa America title a few weeks ago.

9. Diogo Jota – €44.7m (2020)

Diogo Jota’s €44.7 million transfer from Wolves to Liverpool in 2020 took many by surprise, but the Portuguese forward has proven to be a shrewd acquisition. After an encouraging debut season, Jota made 35 appearances in his second year as a Red, netting 15 goals and contributing 6 assists. While he hasn’t nailed down a spot in the starting lineup yet, The 27-year-old has remained a dependable option whenever needed.

8. Fabinho – €45m (2018)

The Brazilian played a key role in Klopp’s transformation of Liverpool. His ability to anchor the Reds’ midfield earned him recognition as one of the best in the world, making his €45 million transfer fee quickly look like a bargain. After five successful years at Anfield, Liverpool managed to turn a small profit on Fabinho when he moved to Al-Ittihad for €46.7 million in the summer of 2023.

7. Christian Benteke – €46.5m (2015)

Benteke joined Liverpool after an impressive three-year spell at Aston Villa. However, he spent only one season at Anfield, scoring 10 goals despite starting just 14 league matches, before being sold to Crystal Palace for €31.2 million. His acrobatic goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford was a standout moment, but overall, the move was unsuccessful.

6. Luis Diaz – €50m (2021)

Signed as Sadio Mane’s successor in January 2022, Díaz initially impressed on the left side of Liverpool’s attack during the early months of his Reds career. However, injuries and the distress of his father’s kidnapping in October 2023 impacted his form. With his father safe return and no current injury issues, the 27-year-old faces the challenge of regaining the form that made him standout at Anfield following his mid-season arrival.

5. Naby Keita – €60m (2018)

Keita joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2016 with a reputation as one of the Bundesliga’s top young box-to-box midfielders. However, upon his arrival at Anfield, the Guinean never lived up to Liverpool’s significant investment in him. Persistent injuries plagued his time in Merseyside and even during his fit spells, he struggled to consistently replicate the dynamism and authority he had shown in Germany.

4. Alisson – €62.5m (2018)

Alisson was signed from Roma in 2018 and instantly solidified Liverpool’s previously shaky defense. In his first season, he kept 27 clean sheets across all competitions, providing the stability that helped Liverpool win the Champions League. The Brazilian quickly developed a strong rapport with his back four, which laid the groundwork for their Premier League triumph in 2020. Already considered one of the best goalkeepers in Premier League history, Allison’s €62.5 million fee now seems like a bargain.

3. Dominik Szoboszlai – €70m (2023)

Liverpool secured the signing of Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023 as part of their midfield overhaul, activating the 22-year-old’s release clause after he played a key role in Leipzig’s back-to-back DFB Pokal triumphs. Although his form dipped as the season progressed and a hamstring injury sidelined him early in the new year, the 23-year-old possesses the qualities to be a central figure in Liverpool’s midfield for years to come.

2. Virgil van Dijk – €84.65m (2018)

Arguably the most important signing of the Klopp era, Van Dijk transformed the club’s fortunes following his arrival from Southampton in January 2018. While his €84.65 million transfer fee faced criticism at the time, its value is now beyond dispute as the commanding Dutch center-back swiftly established himself as the world’s best defender, playing a crucial role in leading Liverpool to Premier League and Champions League triumphs.

1. Darwin Nunez – €85m (2022)

Nunez became Liverpool’s most expensive signing when he joined from Benfica in 2022. With Sadio Mane departing, Jurgen Klopp sought a world-class forward and turned to the Uruguay international, who had impressed at Benfica the previous year. In his first season, Nunez notched 15 goals across all competitions, but his missed opportunities arguably stood out more for the Anfield faithfuls. Nonetheless, his potential remains exceptionally high.
