Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise has opted to join Bayern Munich, ending speculation about his future this summer, Soccernet.football reports.

The 22-year-old France youth international is now expected to finalize a deal with Bayern. The Athletic reported that Bayern contacted Palace, while Chelsea showed interest but decided against proceeding due to financial constraints.

Newcastle United also approached Crystal Palace, and both Manchester United and Manchester City have long been interested in Olise.

Olise nearly joined Chelsea last summer but chose to remain at Palace, signing a new four-year contract.

In the 2023-24 season, he scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 19 appearances despite being hampered by a hamstring injury. His impressive performance under new manager Oliver Glasner led to his inclusion in France Under-23 head coach Thierry Henry’s preliminary squad for the Olympic Games.

The Olympic men’s football tournament runs from July 24 to August 9. If France reaches the final, Olise would have just two weeks before the start of the 2024-25 Bundesliga season.

Playing mainly on the right, Olise is a left-footed, creative player known for his ability to break down defenses. His talents have attracted some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Bayern Munich’s interest in Olise aligns with their strategy to invest in younger players. With key players like Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, and Thomas Muller facing various issues, Bayern sees Olise as a fresh, dynamic addition. Olise’s potential to grow and his value to appreciate make him an attractive prospect.

Adding Olise would strengthen Bayern’s squad, which already includes emerging talents like Jamal Musiala, Mathys Tel, Aleksandar Pavlovic, and Lovro Zvonarek. This young core could evolve together over the coming years.

Olise’s move is timely, as Bayern’s manager, Vincent Kompany, speaks French and is known for his work with young players, making this a promising investment for the German club.
