Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has been named the winner of the prestigious Premier League Player of the Month award, Soccernet.football reports.

The youngster beat top-quality opposition to the honour after unleashing a goal-scoring frenzy, tallying an impressive seven goals across four top-tier matches for the Blues throughout April.

The 22-year-old sensation seized the coveted accolade following a scintillating month where he delivered two clinical displays in front of goal at Stamford Bridge, coupled with a crucial assist in an away fixture against Sheffield United.

Palmer orchestrated a breathtaking hat-trick, including an equaliser and a dramatic stoppage-time winner, in Chelsea’s exhilarating 4-3 win over Manchester United.

Additionally, he showcased his playmaking brilliance by setting up Noni Madueke’s decisive strike in the clash against Sheffield United.

Palmer’s excellent three goals arrived within the opening 29 minutes of that win against United, sending him into the Premier League record books as the player to net the earliest hat-trick in the competition’s history.

The former Man City lad further solidified his stellar performance by converting a penalty in the second half, thus joining the elite ranks of Chelsea legends Gianluca Vialli, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, and Frank Lampard as one of only four players to net a quadruple in a single Premier League match.

Palmer beat stiff competition to the PotM award, including Everton’s shot-stopper Jordan Pickford, Arsenal’s Kai Havertz, Manchester United’s midfield maestro Bruno Fernandes, Crystal Palace’s star Jean-Philippe Mateta, and Manchester City’s defensive stalwart Josko Gvardiol.
