Chelsea Football Club is reportedly eyeing a former Arsenal goalkeeper as part of Mauricio Pochettino’s ambitious bid to bolster his squad this summer, which is valued at an astonishing £1 billion, Soccernet.football reports.

Rumours suggest that the Blues are eager to secure the services of a former Gunner shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny, potentially reigniting the age-old rivalry between the London giants. The history of direct transfers between these arch-rivals is evident, with Kai Havertz’s move from Arsenal to Chelsea just last year.

Under the leadership of Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s spending spree appears limitless, and they seem poised to shake things up in the goalkeeping department once again. While Robert Sanchez initially took the helm as Chelsea’s primary goalkeeper following his switch from Brighton, it’s Djordje Petrovic who’s now in the spotlight after Sanchez’s unfortunate injury setback.

According to whispers from Tutto Juve, Chelsea has its sights firmly set on Juventus’ Wojciech Szczesny. The Polish custodian, valued at £8.5 million (€10 million), has reportedly piqued Chelsea’s interest, with the club preparing to flex its financial muscles once more. However, Juventus isn’t sitting idly either, eyeing Monza’s Michele Di Gregorio as a potential replacement to balance their wage bill.

A potential deal for Di Gregorio could see Chelsea splashing out a hefty £17 million (€20 million), emphasizing their commitment to securing top talent for the upcoming season.

Szczesny’s impressive track record at Juventus speaks volumes, with 15 clean sheets in 32 Serie A appearances this season alone. Since his arrival from Arsenal in 2017, the 34-year-old has become a stalwart for the Italian giants, clinching three Serie A titles and two Coppa Italias along the way.

Reflecting on his days at Arsenal, where he made his mark after joining as a budding talent in 2006, Szczesny’s legacy endures, having notched up 181 appearances for the Gunners. Despite the passage of time, his popularity among the Arsenal faithful remains undiminished.

While Chelsea’s pursuit of Szczesny gathers momentum, it’s worth noting their prior interest in Arsenal’s current custodian, Aaron Ramsdale, ahead of the winter transfer window. Ramsdale’s fall from grace at Arsenal, with David Raya now occupying the coveted spot between the sticks, could potentially open the door for a dramatic reunion with Chelsea’s London rivals.
