Venezia head coach Giovanni Stroppa has offered a positive assessment of Super Eagles striker Akor Adams despite the Nigerian’s mixed start to life at the Serie A club, Footynaija.com reports.
Adams has endured contrasting fortunes since completing his club-record €17 million move from Sevilla in July, producing a stunning performance on his debut before going on to find things a bit more difficult in the Italian top flight.
The 26-year-old announced himself in style during Venezia’s Coppa Italia clash with Modena where he bagged an impressive brace and provided an assist to help his new side progress into the next phase of the competition.

However, his Serie A campaign has been less productive so far. Adams started Venezia’s opening two league games against Lecce and AC Milan but failed to find the net as Stroppa’s side suffered consecutive 2-0 defeats.
He then found himself relegated to the substitutes bench for Wednesday’s Coppa Italia clash against Udinese, with the Nigeria international introduced in the 81st minute as Venezia eventually fell to a 2-1 defeat.
Adams did have an opportunity late on, but his right-footed effort from outside the box in the 90th minute missed the target. Despite his inconsistent start, Stroppa believes the striker possesses qualities that can make him an important player for Venezia.
“From a technical point of view, there’s always room for improvement. From a tactical point of view: he applies the initial pressure, goes deep and jostles: he’s definitely a good player,” the Venezia boss said, per Pazzi Di Fanta.
Adams will now hope to translate those qualities into greater involvement and goals as Venezia look to finally get up and running in Serie A by grinding out a positive result when they face fellow strugglers Frosinone this weekend.
