Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit is concerned about Victor Osimhen’s character amid growing transfer links between the Premier League side and the highly sought-after Super Eagles striker, Footynaija.com reports.
The Nigeria international has established himself as one of the most wanted strikers across Europe since inspiring Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years. His recent performances for Galatasaray, where he has registered 26 goals and 5 assists in 30 appearances across all competitions, have only seen his stocks rise even higher.
Chelsea are in desperate need of a proper center-forward heading into the summer transfer window and the West London giants have been relentlessly linked with a move for Galatasaray’s on loan hitman Osimhen.

However, Petit, who made 76 appearances for the Blues across three different seasons, has warned his former club against pursuing a transfer for the Nigerian goal-machine. The former France international has instead urged Chelsea to target other striking options.
Petit’s concerns
“My concerns with Victor Osimhen would be with his personality and character, it can be a great thing for the team if it fits in, but it can also be difficult in other teams,” Petit said as per quotes revealed by GOAL.
“We all know his qualities and what he can bring to the team, he can score goals and bring character, he reminds me of Diego Costa in that sense, he is a fighter. In terms of personality and character, it can be a lot, but he is very versatile, but there might just be better options on the market this summer.”
Options aplenty
Osimhen is also reported to be attracting interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal. Non-English clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Barcelona are also thought to be closely monitoring his transfer situation.
Whether Chelsea choose to heed the advice of their former player or not, the 25-year-old striker is set to be spoiled for options when it comes to picking his next club at the end of the season.
