Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has sent a clear message as the Nigerian team arrived in Kigali for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda, Footynaija.com reports.

The Super Eagles are under pressure after a difficult start to their qualifying campaign. Nigeria drew 1-1 with Lesotho at home, followed by a 1-1 draw away to Zimbabwe. They then lost 2-1 away to Benin and were held to a 1-1 draw by South Africa in Uyo.

These results have left Nigeria fifth in Group C with just three points from four matches.

As the team arrived in Kigali, some players, including Victor Osimhen, Bruno Onyemaechi, Papa Mustapha, and Kayode Bankole, were among the early arrivals.

They took part in light gym sessions to keep sharp. Head coach Eric Chelle holds his first full training session today, with more players expected to join camp.

The experienced defender took to his official X account with a post that read: “TOUCHDOWN! LET’S GET TO WORK”.

Rwanda are currently top of the group with seven points. The match will be played at the Amahoro Stadium on Friday, March 21, with kick-off at 6:00 PM Kigali time (4:00 PM Nigeria time). After the Rwanda clash, the Super Eagles will return home to face Zimbabwe in Uyo on March 25.

Troost-Ekong’s message shows the team’s mindset. The captain, who has always led with passion and grit, is calling on his teammates to stay focused and give their all.

The Super Eagles need to show hunger and fight in Kigali. It is all about hard work now, and results.
