Veteran Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has shared his thoughts on the ongoing speculation about Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah’s potential move to the Saudi Pro League, Footynaija.com reports.
Salah’s current contract at Liverpool will expire at the end of the current campaign and the Reds have been unable to convince the Egyptian star to put pen to paper and extend his stay in Merseyside.
The electric and highly prolific winger has enjoyed scintillating form this season despite all the noise surrounding his future. He is currently enjoying a wonderful season, tallying 30 goals and 21 across all competitions so far.
However, his contract situation at Anfield has made him the subject of numerous transfer speculation, with the loudest noise coming from the Middle-East amid strong links to Saudi Pro League heavyweights Al-Hilal.
Super Eagles skipper Troost-Ekong, who currently plies his trade in Saudi Arabia, donning Al-Kholood colours, has revealed his stance on the potential arrival of Salah in the Saudi Pro League.
“I think there’s massive talk about Mo Salah coming to play at Al-Hilal. I think it is the club that has been named,” he said in a conversation with talkSPORT.
“I think he is the most sought-after player, maybe also because of his background, and how much they loved him here. It will be great to see that, I will be welcoming it.
“I think it is going to add another very difficult two fixtures to my season. But I will be very happy to see big players coming to the Saudi league.”
Troost-Ekong has been a vital member of Al-Kholood’s setup since joining the Saudi club from PAOK Thessaloniki last summer. He has logged 21 appearances, with two goals and an assist to his name.
