Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi produced strong performances as their Premier League clubs held Liverpool and Chelsea to draws on Saturday, Footynaija reports.
Bassey captained Fulham in their 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Anfield, helping his side earn their first point of the season under new manager Álvaro Arbeloa.
The Nigeria international played all 90 minutes and was a key part of a Fulham defence that kept Liverpool’s attack quiet. Bassey won all three of his tackles, made four clearances and completed 23 of his 28 passes.

Liverpool had 56% possession and managed 14 shots, but Fulham’s organised defence made it difficult for the hosts to create clear chances.
Bassey also came close to scoring when his powerful header was saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. The result ended Fulham’s run of three straight league defeats and gave them an important boost early in the campaign.
At Stamford Bridge, Ajayi helped Hull City secure an impressive 2-2 draw against Chelsea. The Super Eagles defender started in a back three and completed the full match as Hull extended their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
Chelsea took an early lead through Morgan Rogers, but Mohamed Belloumi scored twice before half-time to put Hull ahead.
Ajayi was involved in Hull’s second goal. He rose highest to meet a corner and his header struck the crossbar before the rebound was turned in by Belloumi. Chelsea eventually equalised through João Pedro in the 66th minute, but Hull held firm during a difficult final period.
Ajayi completed 20 accurate passes and used his aerial strength to help his side deal with Chelsea’s pressure.
The draw leaves Hull with seven points from their opening four matches after returning to the Premier League.
