Super Falcons winger Rinsola Babajide dedicated Nigeria’s thumping 6-2 victory over Egypt to the fans and her family after producing a Woman of the Match performance to help seal a place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Footynaija.com reports.
Babajide was handed her first start of the tournament after beginning Nigeria’s opening two Group C matches on the bench, and she seized the opportunity with an outstanding display on the left flank.
The AS Roma forward tormented Egypt’s defense throughout the contest, registering two assists as the Super Falcons bounced back from an disappointing start to the competition to book their place in the last eight.

Speaking to Nigerian journalist Victor Ademola after the game, the 27-year-old expressed her delight at the team’s performance while dedicating the victory to Nigerian fans and her loved ones.
“This win is for our Nigerian fans and my family literally,” Babajide said.
“I know I got two assists but we’re very happy with the win to be honest. We knew what was at stake and we managed to pull through. So we’re very happy about that as well.”
After watching Nigeria’s opening two matches against Malawi and Zambia from the substitutes bench, Babajide wasted little time proving her worth with an outstanding display.
The winger finished the game with two assists, four chances created and a shot on target across 90 minutes, giving head coach Justine Madugu plenty to think about ahead of Sunday’s quarter-final clash against Cameroon.
With confidence soaring after their biggest win of the tournament, the Super Falcons will hope Babajide can carry her impressive form into the knockout stages as Nigeria continue their pursuit of a record-extending 11th WAFCON title.
