Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi has expressed his delight after helping FC Porto lift the 2026 Portuguese Super Cup and adding yet another trophy to his impressive collection with the Portuguese giants, Footynaija.com reports.
Porto edged Taca de Portugal winners SCU Torreense 1-0 in Saturday’s Supertaca Candido de Oliveira final, with Danish midfielder Victor Froholdt’s first-half strike proving enough to separate both sides at the Estadio Cidade de Coimbra.
Sanusi featured at left-back and delivered a composed defensive display as Porto kept a clean sheet to hand manager Francesco Farioli his second trophy with the Dragons. The 29-year-old completed 84 percent of his passes, recorded a perfect tackle success rate and played his part in frustrating Torreense throughout the contest.

Reacting to the triumph on social media, the Nigeria international reflected on Porto’s rich history and his own journey at the club.
“88 trophy’s what a history. I’m grateful to be part of this club,” Sanusi posted on X.
The victory marked Sanusi’s fourth Portuguese Super Cup title since joining Porto from Santa Clara in 2020. It also took his overall trophy haul with the Dragons to 10, further cementing his place among the most successful Nigerian footballers in club football.
Only Super Eagles legends Nwankwo Kanu, who won 14 major club trophies during his career and John Obi Mikel, with 12, have lifted more senior club honours than the Porto full-back.
Having once again started the season with silverware, Sanusi will now turn his attention to helping Porto defend their domestic crown and challenge for more trophies as the 26/27 campaign gets underway.
