Arsenal’s attempt to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly hit a major obstacle after Galatasaray turned down an offer that included both cash and a player, Footynaija reports.
According to Turkish journalist Ömer Faruk Özcan, Arsenal representatives travelled to Istanbul with a proposal that would have seen Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres move to Galatasaray, along with an extra €30 million, in exchange for Osimhen.
However, the Turkish champions were not interested in the deal. Galatasaray remain determined to keep the Nigerian forward, who has become one of the club’s most important players since arriving in Istanbul. The club believe Osimhen is worth far more than Arsenal’s proposal and are only prepared to consider offers well above the €100 million mark.
Arsenal’s interest in Osimhen is not new. Sporting director Andrea Berta is said to have monitored the striker closely and previously visited Turkey as the Premier League side explored the possibility of signing him.
The reported offer also suggests Arsenal are willing to part ways with Gyökeres after just one season. The Swedish international joined the Gunners from Sporting CP in 2025, but reports claim there are concerns inside the club about how he has settled into English football and whether he can consistently deliver in the biggest matches.
Despite Arsenal’s creative approach, Galatasaray were not convinced. The club see Osimhen as a key part of their plans and have shown no sign of lowering their asking price, making any move for the Nigerian striker increasingly difficult this summer.
