Sevilla are seriously considering selling Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke this summer as interest from Saudi Arabia continues to grow, Footynaija understands.

The Spanish club is looking to raise money before the start of the new season, and the Nigerian could become one of the players sacrificed to help improve the club’s financial situation.

Saudi clubs are reported to be leading the race for the 28-year-old, while teams from Qatar are also watching him. Ejuke has admirers in Europe too, with Bayer Leverkusen, Fulham, Leeds United and Sunderland all linked with the former CSKA Moscow winger. However, clubs from Saudi Arabia are expected to offer the biggest transfer fee and the most attractive wages.

Sevilla are believed to value Ejuke at between €4 million and €5 million. With only one year left on his contract, this is seen as the right time to sell him instead of risking losing him for free next year.

The Nigerian joined Sevilla without a transfer fee after leaving CSKA Moscow, meaning every euro from his sale would go down as profit for the club. Sevilla hope to raise about €25 million from player sales this summer, making Ejuke an important part of their plans.

Selling him would also reduce the club’s wage bill, as he reportedly earns close to €1.9 million each season. That would give Sevilla more room to register new signings under La Liga’s financial rules.

Although Ejuke showed his dribbling skills and speed in several matches, including a strong display against Real Sociedad, injuries and inconsistent form limited him to one goal and one assist in 29 league games. Unless a European club matches the expected Saudi offer, Sevilla are likely to approve a deal if a formal bid arrives.
