Poland defender Kacper Potulski has refused to accept that Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with the Super Eagles flattered Nigeria, insisting his side deserved more from a game they dominated in terms of chances before conceding a late leveller in Warsaw, Footynaija.com reports.

The Super Eagles were without several key first-team members for the fixture at the PGE Narodowy Stadium, including Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina, all declared unavailable for various reasons.

Despite the absences, Eric Chelle’s side more than held their own. Terem Moffi opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after finishing off a well-worked move involving Moses Simon, before Poland equalised on the stroke of half-time through Potulski himself. Nigeria then regained the lead in the 77th minute when Paul Onuachu calmly converted from the penalty spot.

It looked like Nigeria would hold on, but Przemysław Wiśniewski produced a stunning late strike to rescue a point for Poland deep in stoppage time.

Potulski, the Mainz centre-back who scored Poland’s equaliser in the first half, pushed back against any suggestion that the draw was a fair reflection of the match.

“I think that throughout the entire match, we had more chances. They scored against us when everything was on the line. The first goal, it’s unclear whether it was offside. The second goal was a penalty kick, which we accidentally gave away. We created more chances,” he said after the game, per a report by Daily Post.

Poland are preparing for the 2026 World Cup, where they will need to be at their sharpest, while Nigeria used the occasion to test depth and tactics ahead of the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.

The Super Eagles had won the Unity Cup in London just days earlier and carried that confidence into Warsaw, controlling long stretches of the game despite the personnel missing.

Nigeria face World Cup-bound Portugal in their next friendly on June 10, with that match serving as Portugal’s final pre-tournament outing before travelling to the United States.
