Zadok Yohanna’s impressive rise in Sweden has sparked a fierce battle among Premier League clubs, with Chelsea becoming the latest heavyweight to register interest in the Nigerian teenager, Footynaija reports.
Since arriving from Nigerian academy Ikon Allah FA, Yohanna has adapted quickly to life in the Allsvenskan and is now attracting attention from some of England’s biggest clubs.
Chelsea have reportedly joined Newcastle United and Brighton in monitoring the youngster’s situation ahead of the summer transfer window. The London side continue to focus on recruiting emerging talents and believe Yohanna fits their long-term development strategy.
The teenager’s performances have given scouts plenty to admire. He has contributed five goals and four assists this season, while his speed, attacking instincts and versatility across the front line have enhanced his reputation. Comfortable on either wing and capable of operating centrally, Yohanna offers the flexibility modern clubs value highly.
Brighton are understood to be leading the chase at this stage. The Seagulls have reportedly held positive talks with the player’s camp and are pushing to reach an agreement with AIK. Their track record of developing young players into Premier League stars could prove attractive to the Nigerian.
Newcastle, meanwhile, remain firmly in contention. Reports suggest the Magpies have strengthened their proposal as they look to beat their rivals to one of Africa’s most promising young attackers.
Despite the growing interest, no transfer has been finalised. Yohanna remains contracted to AIK until the end of 2029, leaving the Swedish club in a strong negotiating position. However, with three Premier League clubs now circling, the prospect of a summer move is becoming increasingly realistic.
