Hamburger SV have received a timely boost ahead of their Bundesliga clash against SC Freiburg with Super Eagles defender Jordan Torunarigha set to return to action, Footynaija.com reports.
Torunarigha had been a doubt for Sunday’s encounter after sustaining a head injury during Hamburg’s hard-fought 2-1 victory away at Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend.
The injury forced the Nigerian centre-back to miss several training sessions earlier in the week as the club’s medical staff monitored his recovery closely.
However, fears over his availability have now been eased after the 28-year-old successfully returned to training without complications, putting him firmly back in contention for selection.

Hamburg head coach Merlin Polzin confirmed the positive development during his pre-match press conference on Friday while providing an update on the squad’s fitness situation.
According to Polzin, Torunarigha is fit and available for Sunday’s home fixture as Hamburg continue preparations for another crucial Bundesliga outing at the Volksparkstadion.
The German tactician also revealed that Alexander Røssing-Lelesiit and experienced striker Robert Glatzel remain unavailable due to injury, while doubts persist over Miro Muheim’s participation.

“Everyone else is available,” Polzin said as quoted by Ligainsider, effectively confirming Torunarigha’s comeback.
Torunarigha’s return will come as welcome news for Hamburg given his growing importance within the team’s defensive structure this season.
Beyond his physical presence and aerial ability, the former Hertha Berlin defender has brought calmness and stability to Hamburg’s backline, qualities that could prove vital against a Freiburg side known for their organized attacking play and danger from set-piece situations.
His availability also strengthens Hamburg’s hopes of maintaining momentum following last weekend’s impressive away victory over Frankfurt.
