Paul Onuachu’s future appears to be taking shape despite growing interest from some of football’s biggest spenders, Footynaija reports.
The Nigerian striker has emerged as a highly sought-after name following a remarkable 2025-26 season in Turkey, but Trabzonspor are determined to keep him at the heart of their project.
The Super Eagles forward enjoyed one of the best campaigns of his career, scoring 22 Süper Lig goals, finishing as the league’s joint-leading scorer and helping Trabzonspor secure the Turkish Cup. Those performances attracted attention from Saudi Pro League clubs, including Al-Ahli, while German sides Bayer Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen were also reported to be monitoring his situation.
Saudi clubs were believed to be ready to tempt the 32-year-old with lucrative contracts worth several times his current salary. Yet, reports from Turkey suggest money alone may not be enough to prise him away from the Black Sea outfit.
Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan has reportedly made it clear that the club has no intention of selling one of its most influential players. With Onuachu tied to a contract until June 2028, the Turkish side holds a strong position and views the former Genk striker as a vital part of its push for the Süper Lig title next season.
The player’s own stance has further strengthened Trabzonspor’s position. Onuachu is said to be settled in Trabzon and has shown no desire to force a move despite the transfer speculation surrounding him. Having developed a strong bond with supporters and established himself as the focal point of the team’s attack, the Nigerian international is reportedly focused on preparing for the new campaign.
With the club unwilling to sell and the player content to stay, Trabzonspor have effectively taken control of the transfer story, leaving potential suitors with little room to manoeuvre.
