Francis Uzoho has won the Cypriot First Division title with Omonia Nicosia after the club were crowned champions on Saturday, sealing their third title in four years with a 3-0 victory over Aris Limassol, Footynaija.com reports.

The Super Eagles goalkeeper, 27, has been at Omonia since joining permanently in September 2021 and is a familiar figure at the club despite spending much of his time as backup to Brazilian keeper Fabiano Freitas.

He has previously won the Cypriot Cup with the club in 2022 and 2023, and the league title on Saturday makes it three trophies in total during his time in Nicosia.

The win over Aris Limassol was the formal seal on what had been building across the season. Omonia held firm at the top of the standings through the second phase of the campaign, dethroning defending champions Pafos to claim a title the club has now won in 2022, 2025 and 2026.

Champions League football earned

The championship is Omonia’s 23rd Cypriot First Division title, extending the record of a club that has also won 16 Cypriot Cups and a record 17 Super Cups.

Beyond the prestige, the title secures Omonia a place in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds next season, a prize that carries significant financial and competitive weight for a club of their standing.

For Uzoho, the moment lands at a promising point in his career. After losing his place as Nigeria’s number one to Stanley Nwabali heading into the 2023 AFCON, he has since reclaimed it under Eric Chelle.

Consistent club football, even in a backup capacity, has kept him sharp throughout that period.
