Former Nigeria international Ogenyi Onazi has thrown his weight behind a possible summer switch for Victor Osimhen to Arsenal, saying the forward has what it takes to shine in the Premier League, Footynaija reports.
Reports suggest Arsenal have stepped up their interest after sending sporting director Andrea Berta to Istanbul to watch Osimhen in action during Galatasaray’s 3-0 win over Fenerbahce. While the trip also involved checks on Uğurcan Çakır and Barış Alper Yılmaz, Osimhen remains a key figure under observation.
Interest in the Super Eagles striker is not limited to England, with clubs such as Juventus, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona all tracking his situation.
Still, Onazi believes a move to North London would suit both player and club.

“I trust Osimhen to make the right decision for himself regarding a move to the Premier League, and not just based on what people think,” Onazi said in an interview with Footy Africa.
“However, personally, it would gladden me if he makes the move, as Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in England and in the world.”
The former Lazio midfielder pointed to Osimhen’s physical qualities as a major asset, especially in a league known for its pace and intensity.
“He will be a big hit in England, as he will fit into Arsenal’s system and cause a lot of problems for defenders with his power and pace.
“The Premier League is massive and followed worldwide, and it would be good for him to test himself elsewhere after his heroics in Italy and now in Turkey.”
Osimhen has continued to impress in Turkey and could add another title to his record if Galatasaray secure victory over Samsunspor. Yet, despite his growing connection with the club and its supporters, Onazi believes the lure of Arsenal may prove decisive.
“It will be a tough decision because I know Galatasaray love him and the fans have also taken to him, but a move to Arsenal would be superb for him,” Onazi concluded.
Osimhen left Napoli last summer in a Turkish transfer record deal but looks set to depart Galatasaray barely a year after.
