Fulham manager Marco Silva has provided an update on Alex Iwobi after the Super Eagles star suffered an injury during Saturday’s Premier League clash against West London rivals Brentford, Footynaija.com reports.
Iwobi was making his 27th start of the season for the Cottagers as Silva’s charges sought to bounce back from last week’s narrow defeat to Liverpool.
However, the Nigeria international lasted only 43 minutes on the pitch before suffering what appeared to be a hamstring injury, leading to his subsequent removal and replacement by compatriot Samuel Chukwueze.

After Iwobi’s removal, Fulham struggled to replicate the level of intensity they showed in the first half, and despite both teams coming close, the contest ended in a barren statement, leaving each side with a share of the spoils.
Speaking during his post-match interview with TNT Sports, Silva, who was somewhat disappointed by the result, disclosed that Iwobi’s injury didn’t seem too serious but the club’s medical staff would still need to assess his condition.

“You always think about the worst possible scenario but he’s not feeling too much pain right now,” Silva said.
“It doesn’t look like a serious hamstring injury, but the next few hours—probably tomorrow or in two days’ time—will give a clearer picture of the situation, and of course for us to analyse and assess his availability for the next games.
“Let’s hope we are not going to lose him until the end of the season because he’s so important for us. After a difficult week in terms of preparation with one or two players, of course it is not good for us to lose a player like Alex.”
Fulham return to Premier League action next weekend when they’ll welcome Unai Emery’s Aston Villa to Craven Cottage
