George Ilenikhena is starting to make a name for himself in Saudi Arabia after his brilliant goal against Al-Nassr was voted the Saudi Pro League Goal of the Week, Footynaija reports.
The Al-Ittihad forward scored twice in the 2-1 win over Al-Nassr, with his second goal earning the weekly award.
Ilenikhena needed only four minutes to open the scoring before finding the net again in the 22nd minute. Angelo Gabriel pulled one back for Al-Nassr, but Al-Ittihad held on for an important win.
The 20-year-old has continued his strong form since then. He scored again in Al-Ittihad’s 2-1 victory over Al-Fayha on Tuesday, taking his league total to four goals this season.
Ilenikhena joined Al-Ittihad from Monaco in February 2026 on a two-and-a-half-year contract. The move gave the young Nigerian a new chance to develop in one of Asia’s biggest leagues.
His recent form could also bring him closer to the Super Eagles. Nigeria are preparing for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches this month, and Ilenikhena could be one of the players considered for a senior call-up.
He may also have a chance to impress Nigeria’s coaches ahead of the friendly against Russia on 6 October.
