Transfer blow: Newcastle United declare Sweden goal-machine off-limits for Arsenal, Chelsea

Arsenal have been informed by Newcastle United that Alexander Isak will not be available for transfer this summer, Soccernet.football reports.

The 24-year-old Swedish forward was one of the marquee signings of Newcastle’s new era, following the acquisition by wealthy Saudi Arabian owners. Isak joined the Magpies from La Liga side Real Sociedad during the 2022 summer transfer window for a fee of around £63 million.

Since he arrived at St James’ Park, Isak has been a standout performer, scoring 35 goals in 67 matches across all competitions. His tally of 21 Premier League goals in the 2023-24 season was only surpassed by Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer.

According to The Independent, Newcastle United have made it clear to Arsenal and other interested clubs that Isak is not for sale as the transfer window draws to a close.

Chelsea, Arsenal’s London rivals, have also shown interest in the Swedish international this year, with rumours surfacing as early as January.

Newcastle’s initial asking price for Isak was reported to be at least £115 million, a figure that deterred many potential buyers. however

H, after the sales of Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson before the June 30 accounting deadline, Newcastle no longer feel pressured to sell key players.

With Isak off the market, Arsenal must explore other options to strengthen their attack for the upcoming season. The potential departure of Eddie Nketiah, who is close to agreeing personal terms with Marseille, further underscores the need for reinforcements.

Mikel Arteta’s side had also targeted Benjamin Sesko, but the Slovenian forward has recently extended his contract with RB Leipzig.

As Arsenal continue their search for a forward, they will need to identify viable alternatives to ensure they are well-prepared for the new season.
