Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has opened the door to an international future with Nigeria, admitting during his visit to the country that a decision will be made in the near future, Footynaija.com reports.

Born in London to Nigerian parents, the towering centre-back has represented England at youth levels but remains uncapped at senior level. After signing for Chelsea in July 2024, Adarabioyo has gone on to win both the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup with the Blues.

But beyond the headlines in Europe, his recent appearance in Lagos has stirred fresh excitement among Nigerians, especially with the Super Eagles facing a critical year ahead under new head coach Eric Chelle.

Adarabioyo’s trip marks his first time in Nigeria, and the emotional impact was immediate. He arrived with his two brothers and was welcomed warmly by locals and fans.

“As soon as you touch down and you step off the plane, you automatically feel that calmness, that you’re at home,” he said during a sit-down interview with Arise News.
“You breathe the air, you just feel… it felt very special.”

While soaking in his Lagos experience, the 27-year-old also launched the Adarabioyo Youth Cup, a grassroots football tournament aimed at inspiring young Nigerian talents. But when the Super Eagles came up in the interview, his response became even more telling.

“It’s something I still think about,” he said.
“We’ll see in the near future, hopefully, and I’ll start to make a decision. It’s just something that has obviously been a topic for many years now since I’ve become a professional footballer.”

Adarabioyo, who stands at 1.96m, has impressed with his calmness on the ball, aerial dominance, and tactical awareness. He made over 120 appearances for Fulham before sealing a free transfer to Chelsea, where he has already become part of club history by lifting two trophies in one season.
