Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze has built a multi-million naira mansion for his father, Reverend John Nkasiobi Chukwueze, in his hometown of Okoko Item, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, Footynaija.com reports.

The project, which is valued at N465 million, was unveiled in an emotional ceremony that brought tears, testimonies, and inspiration across the community. Chukwueze also empowered at least 20 local youths with tricycles, scholarships, and cash gifts as part of the Samuel Chukwueze Empowerment Initiative.

The event was a full-circle moment for the Nigerian international, who revealed that just a few years ago, he could not even find a bed to sleep on in his family home.

“I remember last time I came back home, I was so ashamed because there was nowhere I could sleep in my hometown,” Chukwueze confessed during the event. “Glory be to God, I now have a family house I can call home. I dedicate this house to the glory of God and to the Chukwueze family.”

The emotional peak of the ceremony came when his father broke down in tears, overwhelmed by the sight of the grand mansion.

Speaking through tears, Reverend John Chukwueze said there was a time he was too ashamed to face his children because of poverty and helplessness.

“I cried today because I remember when I had nothing and could not provide for my children. I abandoned them, not because I did not love them, but because I was ashamed I could not give them the life they deserved,” he admitted.

He added that the surprise was beyond anything he imagined:

“When I saw this house, I could not hold back tears. Samuel has made me proud beyond words.”

As confirmed in a report by The Whistler, which captured the emotional atmosphere, Reverend Chukwueze also recalled how his son inherited his footballing talent:

“When I was younger, I was a great footballer too. It gives me joy to see that my son has taken that same path and is excelling on the global stage.”

The mother of the Super Eagles star, Mrs. Sarah Chukwueze, called the event the fulfilment of years of family prayer and struggle. She described the gesture as a blessing to both the family and the wider community.

Also present at the occasion was Prince Victor Apugo, popularly known as Ngwomgwo, Chukwueze’s current manager. He praised the footballer’s values and character:

“Samuel Chukwueze is a very good guy with a human heart full of feelings. He is open-minded, very accommodating, and extremely respectful.”

He encouraged young Nigerians to emulate the winger’s approach to life:

“My message to young youths is: be focused. Stay true to your dreams, work hard, and always remain humble, just as Samuel has done.”

For many in Okoko Item and across Abia State, this is a story of healing, humility, and giving back. As captured by one community elder:

“This is not just about building a house. Samuel is using his blessings to uplift everyone around him. He has shown that true success means lifting others.”
