Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has played down speculations of an imminent transfer, following his recent departure from South African Premier Soccer League side Chippa United, Footynaija.com reports.

Since ending his association with the Chilli Boys, Nwabali, who established himself as one of the best goalkeepers on the African continent during his four-year stay at Port Elizabeth, has been linked with a potential move to a number of different clubs.

Kaizer Chief are one of the teams reportedly interested in securing the services of the Nigeria international with the likes of Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq, English second division outfit Queens Park Rangers and Morocco’s Raja Club Athletic also touted as potential landing spots.

However, Nwabali, who recently emphasized his readiness to take advantage of whichever opportunity comes his way next, revealed that there’s yet to be any official approach for his services from any of the aforementioned suitors.

“I can play anywhere I want to play, there is no restriction,” Nwabali said on Sports Nights Amplified With Andile Ncube. “I am open to any club, local or international. Football deals with happiness, and my happiness comes first.

“There are no calls yet. The only calls are from my family and friends and people who are shocked at the news. Nothing changed. In football, you wait for the right moment. You really need to enjoy where you are.”

Nwabali will now be looking to sort out his club football future in the coming weeks as his status as the Super Eagles’ first choice goalkeeper going forward may well be dependent on his next move.
