Super Eagles defender Jamilu Collins will no longer play in the English Championship after Cardiff City officially confirmed his departure following a three-year spell at the club, Footynaija.com reports.
The 30-year-old, who joined Cardiff from SC Paderborn in May 2022, is among the players set to exit the Welsh side when their contracts run out on 30 June 2025. The announcement marks the end of an injury-troubled stint that never quite lived up to expectations.
Collins, who came through Abuja Football College before moving to Europe in 2012, arrived in Wales on a free transfer with hopes of helping Cardiff return to the Premier League. But his debut season was disrupted by a serious knee injury suffered in only his fourth appearance, ruling him out for the entire campaign.

He made his comeback the following season and finished with 44 total appearances in all competitions for the Bluebirds, registering one goal and four assists.
However, he struggled to reclaim a consistent starting role. In the just-concluded 2024/25 season, he managed only three appearances.
Cardiff City confirmed the Nigerian’s release in their official 2024/25 Retained List, where Collins was listed alongside five other departing players, including Yakou Méïté and Anwar El Ghazi. The announcement also included news of Aaron Ramsey’s exit as caretaker manager.
Reports had linked Collins with a possible exit as early as January 2025, but no club was willing to meet Cardiff’s valuation at the time. With his deal now set to expire, the left-back becomes a free agent and is available for a move without any transfer fee.
His next destination remains unknown, but with experience in Germany, Croatia, and now England, he may attract interest from clubs across Europe or possibly return to a familiar league where he previously impressed.
