Former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda has called on his old club to go all out to sign Victor Osimhen, insisting the Nigerian striker could lead a new generation of African talent at Stamford Bridge, Footynaija.com reports.
The Blues were strongly linked with Osimhen during the summer of 2024, as it became increasingly clear he would leave Napoli.
Although a move failed to materialise then, interest in the 26-year-old has only intensified during his loan spell at Galatasaray, where he has scored an impressive 33 goals across all competitions.

Speaking to Racing Tipster, Malouda said Chelsea should not let the opportunity slip.
“Yes. Just like Arsenal, we need a striker that scores 20 or more a season. Osimhen is the kind of player who can do that,” said the ex-France international. “I think the issue for Chelsea is how much he’ll cost, and what wages he wants. That can be sorted out.”
Malouda believes Osimhen can reignite Chelsea’s attack and become the club’s next African icon, following in the footsteps of Didier Drogba.
“The links with Chelsea are strong. We’ve had brilliant African footballers in the past, and Osimhen can be the next generation of African players at Chelsea. I would love to see him join the club. I think he would be an excellent signing. I also think he would help someone like Nicolas Jackson improve.”
Osimhen remains under contract at Napoli until the summer of 2026, but the Serie A club are expected to cash in on their star striker at the end of the season to maximise his value.
