Sevilla sporting director Victor Orta has suggested the signing of Nigerian strikers Akor Adams and Kelechi Iheanacho was a mistake by the La Liga club Footynaija.com reports.
Adams left Ligue 1 side Montpelier for Sevilla in the winter window after a one and a half year stint that saw him make 49 appearances and register thirteen goals and three assists for the French club.
Since arriving in Seville though, the former Lillestrøm striker has only managed four outings for Los Palanganas. Only one of those four appearances has lasted a full ninety minute duration, with the remaining three adding up to a meagre 51 minutes out of a possible 270.

The 25-year-old striker can hardly be blamed for his sub-par start to life in Spain as injuries have prevented him from fully settling in. Having initially suffered a muscle injury not long after his arrival and missing over a month of action, Adams has now returned to the treatment table, this time around with a thigh injury.
Meanwhile, Iheanacho, who joined from Leicester City last summer and failed to stamp his mark during his brief time in Seville, has since moved to Middlesbrough on loan where he continues to struggle.
Orta, who played a huge role in luring both players to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, admitted while addressing the club’s challenges during the presentation of Joaquin Caparros as new head coach that both moves haven’t turned out as planned.
“It’s a mistake I acknowledge,” he said in quotes revealed by FootBoom.
“Although two of them were intended as supplementary options, the situation with Iheanacho has raised questions, and we’re assessing the circumstances behind Akor Adams’s injuries.”
