Super Eagles stars Paul Onuachu and Chibuike Nwaiwu will work under a new manager at Trabzonspor following the appointment of German coach Thomas Reis, Footynaija.com reports.
The Turkish Super Lig side confirmed Reis’ arrival on Thursday, September 17, with the 52-year-old signing a two-season contract with the club.
Reis replaces Fatih Tekke, who parted ways with Trabzonspor earlier this month following their Europa League playoff exit, and will be tasked with guiding the club through the remainder of the campaign.
The German manager arrives after a brief spell with Bulgarian champions Ludogorets, having previously built a reputation in Turkish football during his time at Samsunspor.
His appointment comes as Trabzonspor prepare for a blockbuster fixture against reigning Super Lig champions Galatasaray this weekend, with Reis set to take charge of his first match on the touchline.
The new manager will inherit a squad featuring several high-profile additions, including Mohamed Salah and Fabinho, while also relying on the contributions of the club’s Nigerian players.

Onuachu has already opened his account this season, scoring twice in Trabzonspor’s 5-0 victory over Genclerbirligi on September 6. However, the striker suffered an injury during the match and has since experienced another setback in training, ruling him out of the upcoming clash against Galatasaray.
Nwaiwu, meanwhile, has established himself as a regular starter, featuring in all five of Trabzonspor’s league matches so far this season.
While his compatriot will have to watch Reis’ first game in the Trabzonspor dugout from the treatment room, the Super Eagles centre-back will be in contention to make his sixth straight start at the heart of defence when the Lions visit Papara Park this weekend.
