FC Porto defender Zaidu Sanusi is fit for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Napoli after returning to full training on Monday, Footynaija reports.
The Nigerian left-back trained without restrictions as Francesco Farioli’s side began preparations for their Matchday 4 fixture at the Estádio do Dragão.
Sanusi was substituted at half-time during Porto’s 4-0 win over Estoril Praia at the weekend after feeling discomfort. The change was precautionary, and the 29-year-old has since recovered.
His availability gives Farioli an experienced defender at left-back, although he faces competition from Francisco Moura and Souza for a place in the starting XI.
Sanusi only recently returned from a seven-week absence with an adductor injury. His latest fitness scare raised concerns about another spell on the sidelines, but he is now available for selection against Napoli.
Porto need a strong result on Wednesday after losing their opening three Champions League matches against Real Betis, Manchester City and PSV Eindhoven.
Their domestic form has been much better, with three straight wins without conceding a goal. Farioli will hope his side can carry that form into Europe and get their first points in the competition.
Napoli travel to Portugal looking to improve their position in the league-phase standings.
Porto will still be without William Gomes and Vasco Sousa, who are both injured, but Sanusi’s return boosts Farioli defence for the game.
