Brentford have rewarded Super Eagles defender Benjamin Fredrick with a new long-term contract and promotion to the club’s first-team squad ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League season, Footynaija.com reports.
The 21-year-old Nigeria international has signed a new four-year deal, with the Premier League club holding the option of an additional year, after impressing during his time with Brentford B and a loan spell in Belgium.
Confirming the decision, Brentford head coach Keith Andrews said the club believes Fredrick has everything needed to succeed at the highest level.
“We’re delighted that Benji has signed a new deal and is going to be part of the group this season because we see a lot of potential in him and where we can bring his game to,” Andrews said.
The Brentford boss also pointed to Fredrick’s growing international experience with Nigeria.
“He’s already played senior international football and was a big part of Nigeria’s team in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
“The first port of call for Benji is to integrate into the squad consistently. He’s then got to come into the first-team space, challenge his teammates and show the ability and the personality which I know he has.”

Fredrick joined Brentford on loan from Nigerian side Nasarawa United in 2023 before making the move permanent the following year. He established himself as one of the standout players in the club’s B team, helping the young Bees win the Under-21 Professional Development League national title and reach the Premier League Cup final.
His progress earned him a first senior call-up to the Super Eagles, making his debut in Nigeria’s Unity Cup triumph before becoming a regular starter during the country’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
The former Simoiben Football Academy and Nasarawa United defender admitted signing the new contract is another proud moment in his career.
“It’s a great feeling. I’m happy and proud of myself, and my family are proud of me as well,” Fredrick said.
“My aim is to make my debut with the first team, get Premier League minutes and give my best when I have the opportunity.”
