Nigeria have officially revealed the players who will carry the country’s hopes at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Footynaija reports.
Unveiled via the team’s official X account, head coach Justine Madugu has selected a 25-player squad for the tournament in Morocco.
The Super Falcons will travel as Africa’s most successful women’s national team, chasing an unprecedented 11th WAFCON title after lifting the trophy in the last edition. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade leads the squad, while experienced stars Asisat Oshoala, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Michelle Alozie, Osinachi Ohale, Toni Payne and Jennifer Echegini are all included.

The squad features three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders and nine forwards, with players drawn from clubs across England, France, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Mexico, the United States, China, Denmark and Nigeria.
Nigeria begin their Group C campaign against tournament newcomers Malawi on July 28 at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat. They will then face Zambia on August 1 before rounding off the group stage against Egypt on August 5.
The clash against Malawi will be the first competitive senior meeting between both countries, while the Super Falcons defeated Egypt 6-0 in their only previous WAFCON encounter back in 1998.
The meeting with Zambia is expected to be Nigeria’s toughest test after the Copper Queens defeated the Super Falcons 1-0 in the third-place playoff at the 2022 WAFCON. Nigeria, however, have won two of their previous three meetings with Zambia.
Besides fighting to keep their African crown, Nigeria will also be aiming to secure one of the four semi-final spots that guarantee qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
