Tottenham Hotspur have become the latest club interested in signing Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu from Turkish side Trabzonspor, Footynaija reports.
Fulham have been chasing the 23-year-old for most of the transfer window and have already reached an agreement with the player over a four-year contract. However, the Premier League club has not been able to agree on a transfer fee with Trabzonspor.
The Turkish club is demanding between €30 million and €35 million for the centre-back. They have already turned down offers worth €18 million and €28 million, showing they are not willing to lower their price.
Tottenham are now keeping a close watch on the situation and could move ahead of Fulham if they decide to meet Trabzonspor’s valuation. Crystal Palace and Bournemouth are also interested, with Palace reportedly considering Nwaiwu as a possible replacement for Maxence Lacroix.
Standing at 1.93 metres (6ft 4in), Nwaiwu is known for his strength, speed, and ability to play confidently with the ball at his feet. He began his career in Nigeria with Heartland and Enyimba before moving to Austrian club Wolfsberger AC.
Trabzonspor signed him in January 2026 for €5.5 million, and he quickly became an important player. He scored three goals in 21 matches, helped the club win the Turkish Cup, and earned his first senior call-up to the Super Eagles. His rapid rise has now attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs.
