Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle believes Portugal have what it takes to go all the way at the forthcoming FIFA World Cup taking place in the United States, Mexico and Canada, Footynaija.com reports.
In a matter of hours, Chelle’s Super Eagles are due to test themselves against the reigning UEFA Nations League champions in what will be their final game of an exciting run of fixtures for the June international break.
The three-time African champions have impressed so far, recording comfortable wins over Zimbabwe and Jamaica at the Unity Cup before proving to be good value for their share of the spoils in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Poland.
However, Chelle is fully aware his charges will be up against it when they take on a Portuguese side he believes are capable of winning this year’s edition of the World Cup.

“In every department on the field, they are good. In defence, they are strong. Of course, their full-backs are very fast and quick,” Chelle said, per quotes from Complete Sports. “The midfielders play well with the ball, and they have the biggest star in the world, a striker, and their wingers are so fast.
“The way that this team plays, when they don’t have the ball, when they lose the ball, they try to put some pressure on the opponent. When they have the ball, they try to play deep end. This is a good team, and they have all.
“I watched their game against Chile. I was in the stadium, and it was a good game. The atmosphere was so good, and the game was good. I was a little disappointed after the red card. And once again, this team, in one month, can be the next world champion. This is a big chance for us to play against Portugal in their country.”
Portugal vs Nigeria will kick off at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, Leiria by 8:45PM WAT.
