German automotive giant Mercedes-Benz has launched legal action against Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen, Footynaija reports.
The surprising development has placed the Galatasaray forward at the centre of an off-pitch dispute just days after his return to scoring form.
The 27-year-old, who recently found the net in Galatasaray’s derby win over Fenerbahce, is accused of failing to settle payments on a luxury vehicle lease dating back to his time in Italy. According to reports from Italian media, a complaint has been filed in Milan by Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Italia, citing an alleged unpaid balance of about €90,000 (roughly ₦144 million).
At the heart of the case is a Mercedes GLE hybrid SUV, which Osimhen is said to have taken on a leasing agreement in 2023 while playing for SSC Napoli. Company representatives claim the forward fell behind on instalments, allowing the debt to build over time. It is also alleged that the vehicle was not returned after the lease period expired.

İddiaya göre; Mart 2023’te yapılan araç kiralama sözleşmesine ait yaklaşık 90 bin euroluk taksitler ödenmedi ve sözleşme süresi dolmasına rağmen araç teslim edilmedi.

The matter is being treated as a potential case of misappropriation under Italian law, although neither Osimhen nor his representatives have publicly responded to the claims. The lack of comment has only added to the intrigue surrounding the situation.
The case stands out because of the striker’s strong financial position. Osimhen reportedly earned around €10 million per year during his spell in Italy before securing a more lucrative contract in Turkey in 2024, believed to be worth over €18 million annually.
Disputes over high-value leasing agreements are not unusual, but the scale and profile of this case have drawn significant attention.
Known for his taste in luxury cars, Osimhen was often seen driving high-end vehicles during his time in Naples, including a customised Mercedes G-Class. More recently, he was spotted in Lagos behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Revuelto.
