Nigeria given fresh hope as Italy snub EPL star on the radar of Man City, Chelsea

Italy manager Gennaro Gattuso has left out highly rated defender Michael Kayode from his latest squad, a decision that could have major implications for the player’s international future, Footynaija reports.

Despite that strong form, Gattuso opted for experience ahead of youth as Italy prepare for a crucial World Cup qualifying playoff. Established names such as Federico Dimarco were preferred, as the coach leaned on players he trusts in high-pressure situations. The decision reflects Italy’s cautious approach after missing the last two World Cups, but it has also sparked debate about whether emerging talents are being overlooked.
