Vincent Aboubakar has offered a shocking perspective of the Turkish Super Lig by insisting that Victor Osimhen is not the league’s best striker, Footynaija.com reports.
The former Besiktas forward said Tammy Abraham is the most complete striker in Turkey, despite the former Chelsea man scoring only five league goals this season.
Aboubakar was asked to rank the top strikers in the Turkish top flight, including Osimhen, Abraham, Paul Onuachu and Youssef En-Nesyri.
“Based on the football they play, Tammy Abraham,” Aboubakar told Ertem Şener YT as per FutbolArena. “Since Galatasaray works well, Osimhen scores goals. Put Abraham in Galatasaray. He’d score a lot. He’d play better than Osimhen.”
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray permanently this summer for €75 million, the biggest transfer in Turkish history, won the Golden Boot, Best Player and Best Goal awards last season while leading the club to a league and cup double.
Injuries have slowed his league campaign to three goals in ten matches, but he has excelled in Europe with six goals in three Champions League games.
Compared to former PSG star Mauro Icardi, Aboubakar also questioned Osimhen’s all-round game, saying: “Icardi plays good football. Osimhen just has goals. If you take away the goals, what else can he do?”
This season’s scoring chart is led by Paul Onuachu with 11 goals, followed by Eldor Shomurodov with 10. En-Nesyri and Icardi each have seven.
